Daytime Exterior

(Scene Lighting Mode)

Exterior Scenes

Notes for the Artist

Exterior Daytime Scenes should generally be lit as if it is fully daytime. Whether this means late morning, noon, or late afternoon, is not specific in the main Locations (only for the rendering of Cut Scenes.)

This is art, so lighting specifics should be chosen based on visual appeal. For example, in a slightly wooded area, it might make sense to lower the sun to allow sun rays to cast shadows from trees in a pleasing way, rather than using an overhead position for the sun that may result in a more dull result.

Location Options such as Doors Open will require alternate versions of Backdrop (and possibly some Overlays) for this scene.

Game Engine Notes - Characters in Exterior Daytime Scenes

Characters in Exterior Daytime Scenes are lit with Overhead Standing or Overhead Sitting Lighting.

There may be exceptions, based upon the specific location of characters within a scene. For example, if the area is wooded or shaded, Soft Front Standing Lighting may be used on a character in order to composite them more naturally into the scene.
